Spring/Summer Trends

January 22, 2014 Posted by arieladmin - No Comments

I created a mood board inspired by Spring/Summer Runway that reflects what I feel will be big trends and colors for the upcoming 2014 season. I utilized both StyleSight and Pantone as resources for my analysis.

Celestial Skies

Last year we saw an abundance of galaxy and space inspired clothing and accessories. Our immense interest in the hubble space discoveries still lingers only this time the star and nebula patterns have evolved into other worldly and celestial shapes. Christopher Kane’s interpretation for S/S best exemplifies this growing trend.

Radiant Orchid

Radiant Orchid was named Pantone’s color of the year 2014 and it has become a very relevant color on and off the runway. Shades of pastel purple all the way to deep burgundy permeate in runway fashion, decor, nails, and accessories. Take a look at this Radiant Orchid inspired tumblr to discover unique ways of embracing this years color.

1970’s Safari

A nostalgia for other decades has been present the past few years as we yearn for a simpler time before the age of smart phones and an over saturation of technology. This year Michael Kor’s collection shows a 1970’s inspired safari for the spring season.

Exotic Floral

Last year we were interested in digital floral patterns, this year our interest in the digital has evolved to exotic and more realistic floral patterns reminiscent of the jungle shown by Just Cavalli on the S/S runway. Color is presented with shades of taupe and asphalt grey mixed in with pops of pink, coral, and lime neon for S/S 14.
